Around the world – from the U.S. to Europe, from Latin America to the Far East – people are losing their jobs in the aftermath of the financial crisis and the consequent economic downturn. What would the world be like if we didn’t have this concept we know of as money? Would we being thriving better or worse? Would humans act together as one to better global society around us? The world as we know it could be a better place economically, globally, and environmentally if we had never came to with the concept of cold hard cash.
Economically speaking, we all work for this green piece of paper, on it is a series of numbers which represents how much its value is. If you really think about it, we’re all working for free and we always have been. It’s like if I was to write down on a napkin “5 dollars,” technically speaking does it not symbolize the same meaning or concept? Due to this concept we have resorted to civilization is suffering. Throughout the last century resources have become abundant due to our lack of financial disobedience and understanding that we’re not out to better ourselves, but in fact to better the world around us. A good example is through technology and its advances and how we’ve chosen to use it time and time again for the wrong reasons. With the given advances civilizations have chosen to use technology to harm others, on warfare, and nuclear weapons. Why is it so hard to put it towards a better use, such as mass creating, instead of mass destruction? Has society in a whole really become that selfish and ignorant?
People all around the globe are struggling with having enough “money” in their pockets to survive, to pay for health care, dental care, food, shelter, and clothes to keep them warm during the winter. Thousands die from starvation and yet we sit by and watch it happen. Money has corrupted and brought out the worse in a vast majority. Let us take a step back for a second and pretend there wasn’t any “green pieces of paper” floating around. How could we survive without? We could first start out by building a singular or possible multiple distribution centers that would provide each citizen a proper portion for them and their families. This portion would be received monthly and would contain food, hygiene utensils, and vitamins. For example, through use of current technology we have today for food propagation; Such as Aqua and hydroponics, we are able to manufacture and cultivate food from our home distribution centers that much quicker. There would be no need for transporting supplies across states, because each town would have their own dist. center. Also these distribution centers would have a rent out center inside, to deal with the masses of crap we have in this world. Instead of going to the store and obtaining the item you need and only using it once a month, why not just rent it from a provided distribution center and return so said item when done using it. Reducing the use of what very limited and valuable resources we have left on this world. Last but not least we would be forced to a trading system, which to be honest isn’t much different than what we are doing now. Just remove money and put something else of equal or lesser value in its place for the item you would like to trade for. Simple really if you think about it. We’d all be working to thrive in our technological advances and to better them one way or another. Removing the worries we have which usually consist and revolve mainly around money. Without having to worry about making rent or being able to afford to eat tonight one is able to perform to their fullest potential, focusing on what they want to do and achieve in this life on this beautiful planet.
Rainforests being chopped down are just some of the many environmental disasters happening around the world due to this currency we have created. Without the acres upon acres of land we would not have half the medicine we do now, nor would we be breathing in the fresh air that we do. There are very many small indigenous tribes left that are living in the rainforests, which do not resort to currency or modern technology. These tribes of unknown sizes have survived solely off the land and what’s around them for thousands of years. Still to this day these tribes are being protected by a group called Amazon Watch from outside predators known as humans. Rainforests not being protected by such groups are on the brink of destruction if not already. They once covered 15% of the world’s surface, providing all sorts of different types of species of animals’ homes. Providing us humans medicines for diseases, along with the oxygen we breathe. They now cover only 6% and it continues to drop by the year, what happens when they’re all gone?
We continue to sit by and watch our planet fall apart. As forests are torn down, gasses are burned which tear holes into our atmosphere, and gallons of liquid waste are dumped into our seas and rivers. We have Money and money equals power as everyone knows. Well that concept must and needs to be forgotten; because its moneys fault we’re in the mess. It has corrupted civilization and will continue to do so if a change isn’t made quickly. A change to better ourselves and every living being on this planet is a must if we are to survive this next century.
